Woven Threads Women's Ministry Hosts Beautiful Fellowship on Truth
Saturday, November 9th, 2024

The Woven Threads women's ministry gathered for heartwarming fellowship at the home of Gracia Harrington.

Surrounded by the warmth of friendship and a cozy atmosphere, nine women came together to share a delicious meal, meaningful conversations, and a devotional centered on a powerful theme: truth.

Gracia led the devotional, exploring the depth and richness of the concept of truth as expressed in Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek. She shared how these languages convey layers of meaning often lost in English translations. With each word holding so much more than a simple definition, the devotional invited each of us to consider how much more meaning and nuance might lie beneath the surface of a single term. This enlightening exploration of truth left us with a renewed appreciation for the complexity and beauty of the Bible and its insight into the heart of God.

Lunch was a feast as well as a time of lively conversation. Gracia prepared a comforting meal of baked potatoes with an array of toppings, including homemade chili made by her niece, Scarlet. We also were treated to her famous warm fluffy rolls, the perfect addition to the meal. Laughter filled the air as we enjoyed our meal, feeling refreshed in body and spirit.

Adding an extra note of joy to our gathering, little Gracie joined us. Her cheerful presence was a reminder of the blessings of fellowship across generations.

As we look ahead, we are all eagerly awaiting our December meeting, with details to be announced soon. Until then, we carry the warmth of this gathering and the reflections on truth with us in our hearts.

Gracia shared these images with the group as an example of the importance of translation, look at the two images above.
With changing only one letter in the Hebrew, you change the word from truth to death.

Woven Threads June Meeting: A Journey Through Treasured Family Heirlooms
Saturday, June 29, 2024

The June meeting of the Woven Threads group was a heartwarming and enlightening experience, thanks to a special presentation by Susan Young. Susan brought a collection of her treasured family heirloom Bibles, each one full of history and personal significance. She shared the stories behind each Bible and the importance they hold for she and her family.

Among the collection was a particularly special piece: a New Testament with the "Good News" cover sponsored by our church. This revelation sparked a wave of nostalgia and pride, as very few attendees were aware of this unique chapter in our church's history.

Susan's presentation not only highlighted the spiritual and emotional value of these heirloom Bibles, but sparked conversations as members reminisced and shared their own memories.

It was a delightful and memorable meeting, filled with recollection, reflection, and a renewed appreciation for our shared heritage.

Woven Threads Ladies Ministry Hosts Joyful Paint Party – May 17, 2024

On Friday, May 17th, the Woven Threads Ladies Ministry gathered for an evening of creativity and fun. The event was a paint party which took place in Fellowship Hall, with 13 ladies in attendance, each prepared to unleash their inner artist.

The evening's artistic activity was guided by the talented Sarah Thurstenson, founder of Something from Nothing Paint Parties. Sarah, who was visiting Arkansas from her home base in Florida, brought her unique expertise and enthusiasm to the event. Under her direction, the ladies painted delightful pictures of fun, whimsical birds, each canvas becoming a testament to the joyful spirit of the evening.

Before the painting commenced, the ladies gathered for a brief but meaningful devotional on the importance of being on our knees in prayer for safety in this world, led by Sister Tabby Ellenbecker. Her words provided a moment of reflection and inspiration, setting a thoughtful tone for the activities to follow.

As the party progressed, the room was filled with laughter and light-hearted banter, creating a joyful and supportive environment. The ladies enjoyed making sandwiches and snacking on an assortment of lite refreshments, adding to the evening's relaxed and friendly ambiance.

The event was a success, with each participant creating their own special masterpiece and enjoying the experience. The Woven Threads Ladies Ministry extends heartfelt thanks to Sarah Thurstenson for her time and talent, making the evening unforgettable.

In the end, everyone left with not only a beautiful painting, but also wonderful memories of an evening well spent in fellowship and fun.

Embracing God’s Forgiveness – April 13, 2024

The Woven Threads ministry held the April meeting on Saturday the 13th. Attended by ten ladies, the meeting topic was Embracing God’s Forgiveness and was presented by Tammy Chastain.

The ramifications of unforgiveness can be vast and physically destroying. The meaning of forgiveness is: To give up the desire to punish. In Matthew 15, we are cautioned that if we do not forgive trespasses, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses. It is serious business.

Tammy used the story of Joseph to illustrate true and complete forgiveness. Joseph had a lot to be angry about. He was thrown into a well by his brothers, then sold into slavery. He spent time in prison for something he didn’t do. Yet, he overcame all of this, and was second in command in Egypt, only after Pharoah. Then during a famine in the land, his estranged brothers show up asking for help. In an exemplary display of true forgiveness, Joseph reveals to them he is their long-lost brother. When they realize this in utter dismay, thinking he would never help them, he surprises them by ‘falling on their neck in tears’ and welcoming them, promising not only to help them, but to give them land on which to live. A true demonstration of forgiveness.

After the presentation Tammy graced us with a lovely and ancient poem, which she had written music for. It was very moving and the perfect way to sum up the presentation.

The group enjoyed a lite lunch and wonderful fellowship, followed by door prizes and gifts. All agreed it was a truly refreshing and lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another,
if anyone has a complaint against another;
even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”

Colossians 3:12-13
