The Senior adults meet once a month, for fellowship and a variety of other activities. Day trips, luncheons and sight seeing ventures are just few of the fun things they do together. The main thing is that they enjoy being together and sharing their lives with each other.

An Afternoon of Music and Gratitude: S.A.L.T. Senior Ministry's July 6th Gathering

July 6, 2024

The S.A.L.T. Senior Ministry hosted a wonderful music filled afternoon for their meeting on Saturday, July 6. Those gathered were treated to a special devotion by senior member, Ms. Phoebe Baker.

Phoebe shared the importance of recognizing that we are blessed to be Americans and should be thankful for the privileges we experience which were hard won by those who sacrificed so much.

The devotional was followed by live music performed by the Faith and Freedom Bluegrass band. Selections included hymns, patriotic songs, and good ole bluegrass. Plenty of feet were tapping and facing smiling as some joined the singing.
The afternoon was capped off by desserts of pie and ice cream and lots of great fellowship.

S.A.L.T. Ministry Group Enjoys Monthly Fellowship

May 23, 2024

On Thursday, May 23rd, the senior ministry group, S.A.L.T. (Seniors Adults Living Triumphantly), gathered for their monthly fellowship, which turned out to be a particularly special event. Gracia and Phillip Harrington graciously hosted this delightful afternoon at their home.

The gathering featured a delicious array of grilled burgers, complemented by an assortment of side dishes contributed by the attendees. This potluck-style meal provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to share their culinary skills and enjoy a hearty feast together.

The highlight of the afternoon was the live music performance by Mark White, which added a festive atmosphere to the event. His lively tunes brought joy and entertainment, making the fellowship even more memorable.

The combination of good food, great company, and live music made for a perfect afternoon. The S.A.L.T. members left feeling uplifted and grateful for the time spent together. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Harringtons for hosting such a fantastic outing, and to everyone who attended and contributed to its success.

People Love Catfish!

April 17, 2024

We had a wonderful turnout for the S.A.L.T., senior adult ministry, monthly meeting. We are sure it had nothing to do with the catfish, it had to be the fellowship!

In total there were 14 attending! The great food fed the great fellowship, with stories and jokes abounding. Sis. Gracia Harrington brought homemade desserts for those who still had room to squeeze it in. All agreed, they were absolutely delicious.

Next month the Harringtons will host the group at their home. If you are looking for a group to enjoy a great evening with, this is the place to be!

Seniors Embrace Autumn Beauty on Fall Foliage Trip

October 14, 2023

As the crisp, cool breeze of autumn settles in, our senior’s group from Weddington Missionary Baptist Church embarked on a leaf-peeking journey to witness the splendid beauty of fall foliage in all its glory.

They met at the church on Saturday, October 14th in the morning as excited smiles and laughter filled the air, they loaded in the church van and headed out for their adventure. As they continued their journey, the group stopped at Airedale Dinner in Alma for lunch and a great time of fellowship.

After lunch they made the journey back to the church, arriving in the afternoon, where they concluded their journey with a heartfelt prayer of gratitude for the day's blessings.

Their shared experience was a beautiful testament to the enduring spirit of friendship, the wisdom that comes with age, and the vibrant beauty of the fall season.

Widow and Widower Banquet 2023

On February 16th, 2023 the Weddington Baptist Seniors Ministry hosted the first banquet for our widows and widowers. There were nine widows present and three couples who did the set-up, prep work, serving and cleaning.

Harp's Food Store in Wedington provided the chicken breasts at a discount. Tammy Chastain cooked the Roasted Chicken and roasted potatoes and topped it off with red velvet cake. Sue Ann Fulcher took care of the salad and most of the decorations. Sharon Haddock made the green beans and brought dinner rolls and joined Sue Ann and Tammy with all other needs and was there early.

These three ladies decorated a room to create a wonderful dinner place. The room was lit with a lamp and several candles to create an ambient atmosphere. Attendees shared their pictures, funniest memory, and best memory. Susan Young was voted for the funniest! Folks, she can climb on the roof!!! The widows were served first class style! We had a wonderful time.

To-Go plates were made and delivered for those who could not attend. Our message was taken from 1 Timothy 5:3 "Honor widows that are widows indeed."

Weddington Baptist loves our widows and widowers!
